Lip Filler unleashes new single ‘CARLING’ ahead of debut EP release

London-based five-piece Lip Filler has unveiled their latest single, ‘CARLING,’ offering a tantalizing glimpse into their upcoming EP, witchescrew, set to release on May 24th via Chess Club Records.
Described as an “irate, thunderous opener,” ‘CARLING’ captures Lip Filler’s raw energy and sonic presence. With influences ranging from 100 gecs to Nine Inch Nails, the band explores themes of personal anxieties and fears related to the nocturnal and the paranormal. Vocalist George Tucker’s breathless verses weave through a maelstrom of distorted guitars, flailing electronics, and uncompromising drums, creating a captivating auditory experience.
Reflecting on the origins of ‘CARLING,’ George Tucker shares:
“The lyrics for ‘CARLING’ were recycled from a mixtape I dropped when I was 17 (the original has a second verse regarding Fosters…) and the lead synth was ripped from a B section of a criminally early demo we had called ‘I got my hands’ – a song about w*nking (I wish I was joking). Evidently, this was a very anarchic time for us. It ended up becoming a crowd favourite in our live set so we kept on playing it – now here we are. The mystery of life.”
Lip Filler’s witchescrew EP promises to showcase the band’s growth and experimentation, pushing the boundaries of their sound while delving into personal narratives and societal critiques. Produced by Declan Gaffney (St Francis Hotel), the EP boasts a dynamic and immersive listening experience.
