Cambridge-based four-piece Lemondaze have announced their new EP subtext, set for release on 5th December via Venn Records (home to High Vis, Meryl Streek, and CLT DRP). Alongside the announcement, the band has shared the EP’s lead single, ‘polari,’ out now on all streaming platforms.

‘Polari’ captures Lemondaze’s immersive fusion of post-rock, shoegaze, and grungy emotional weight, marking a new creative era for the band. The track unfolds across heavy low-end textures, layered harmonics, and moments of delicate clarity that evoke the influence of Curve and Deftones while establishing their own distinct sound. Beneath the distortion, the song channels nostalgia and fleeting euphoria—memories of youthful summers and spontaneous adventure.

Vocalist and lyricist Isis de Chastelain shared:

“I wrote the lyrics after we played Green Man Festival in 2022; it was the most magical time in the most beautiful place with my best friends. The track itself has this nostalgic feeling to me, summer, getting drunk with your best friends, being young. That’s what the lyrics are for me, going ride or die on the craziest adventure with the people that mean the most to you. The song itself came together during a Covid-fuelled fever dream when Finn and I were quarantining together. It was 4 days of playing Lego Batman and Halo 3, making Swedish meatballs and writing ‘polari’ (it was originally called ‘eggs box 420’ – lol).”

Lemondaze’s new single ‘polari’ is out now. The EP subtext arrives 5th December on Venn Records and will be available on all streaming platforms.
