Lei Hope announces ambitious new EP Matrices / Releases new single ’21’
Manchester-based musician Hope Chiguvo, known by the moniker Lei Hope, announces the release of his forthcoming EP Matrices on May 10th via Heist or Hit.
Lei Hope has released his second single of 2024. Entitled ’21,’ the track is a nostalgic yet singular reflection on personal growth and artistic evolution. Hope’s soulful ascending guitar chords, coupled with jazzy inflections, create a warm backdrop for introspective musings. Co-produced with Will Levison and featuring vocals from Manchester R&B singer Mxzvita, ’21’ becomes a poignant expression of overcoming struggles and appreciating self-growth.
“The title of the EP Matrices came around as the plural of ‘matrix’. It’s a bit of a nerdy explanation but in Maths, a matrix is used to communicate transformation, movement, or change (similar to coordinates). Throughout the making of this project, I underwent multiple layers of change. I like starting projects with an update on my state of mind – and on “21” I was looking back at times when my mental health was a lot worse and appreciating the growth I’ve made in terms of overcoming a lot of struggles. This was the first song Will Levison and I co-produced in December 2022, and it features vocals from Manchester R&B singer Mxzvita.”
’21’ is available to listen to now. Matrices is set for release on May 10th via Heist or Hit.
