Liverpool’s Keyside unveils new indie jangle anthem, ‘Rhianna, Please Don’t Cry’

Liverpool’s own Keyside returns with ‘Rhianna, Please Don’t Cry,’ a vibrant, jangle-riffed indie pop track that tells the bittersweet story of a young, hopeless crush.
Beneath its breezy, upbeat melodies, ‘Rhianna, Please Don’t Cry’ explores themes of longing and social isolation in modern city life, echoing the Merseybeat legacy of Keyside’s hometown. The track is rich with intricate guitar riffs and layered harmonies that channel a sense of yearning, drawing on influences from The Smiths to The La’s. Produced by Chris Taylor (Courteeners, Blossoms) at Kempston Street Studios, the track’s polished yet energetic sound reveals Keyside’s signature blend of classic and contemporary influences, enhanced by the dynamic input of each band member—Ben Cassidy on guitar, Max Gibson on bass, and Oisin McAvoy on drums.
As Parker explains:
“This one’s about being young and wanting to escape from real life into something better in the company of someone new. Daydreaming of a time and place that’s better than this one.”
‘Rhianna, Please Don’t Cry’ is out now.
