The Colorado-based rock band’s latest track arrives ahead of the album’s digital release on April 24 and vinyl release on March 19 via Midtopia as part of the label’s Buy Before You Stream initiative.

Racing forward with a blues-rock pace, ‘Jesus Christ Taxi Driver’ delivers on the band’s central concept and mission statement. The track blends gritty guitars with urgent rhythms as the band directly addresses the hypocrisy and hostility they observe within segments of the American religious right. The song envisions a narrative in which Jesus arrives in modern-day New York City as an immigrant working as a cab driver, using the scenario to explore moral contradictions and social attitudes.

Vocalist and guitarist Ian Ehrhart said this song represents:

“The fear and racism Americans have towards immigrants; asking the questions: what would Jesus do? And what if God was one of us? This song is seeking to expose the contradictions of the religious right by plopping the God child in modern day NYC as a cab driver. From Bethlehem to the great U.S. of A. our hero (Jesus H. Christ) seeks to escape religious persecution and make some money to help his family, only to have everything taken away.”

‘Jesus Christ Taxi Driver’ is available to stream now, with Taxi The Rich arriving April 24 via Midtopia.
