Horsepower debuts with dreamy and infectious single ‘Are You Blushing?’
New York-based songwriter Charlotte Weinman introduces her project Horsepower with its debut single, ‘Are You Blushing?,’ a track that blends elegant balladry with modern dream-pop sensibilities.
Produced with her brothers Noah (Runnner, Gigi Perez, Skullcrusher) and Ben Weinman, along with Ellington Peet, ‘Are You Blushing?’ opens with a sparse, intimate arrangement of delicate vocals and guitar before blossoming into a lush, layered composition. The track balances emotional intensity with moments of introspective quiet, mirroring the restless, all-consuming nature of infatuation. With a keen ear for texture and atmosphere, Weinman crafts a soundscape that feels both raw and cinematic, capturing the rush of fleeting, overwhelming emotions.
Weinman explains:
“This song is about having a crush that invades your brain space like contagion. It’s a little scary because you’re not in full control of your thoughts, and also because the brain is a powerful thing — you can use it to think a crush to death. It’s also about the way every crush is a mirror, and sometimes what’s addictive about being imaginative about a crush is really the reflection of ourselves the crush offers back — the visualization of our lives through the crush.”
