Home Counties announces debut album Exactly As It Seems / Releases shapeshifting single ‘Wild Guess’

Home Counties announce their highly anticipated debut album, Exactly As It Seems, slated for release on May 3rd, 2024, via Submarine Cat Records.
Known for their distinct unpredictability, Home Counties has released their latest single, ‘Wild Guess.’ Produced and recorded by the band’s guitarist, Conor Kearney, and mixed by Andy Savours (Black Country New Road, Rina Sawayama, Sorry), ‘Wild Guess’ explores various concerns, from day-to-day financial worries to fears of social isolation in old age and the looming specter of ecological collapse.
Will Harrison of Home Counties elaborates on the genesis of ‘Wild Guess’:
“It was written as part of an experimental side project which saw never the light of day – and in its original form was like a deranged version of the Wii Sports loading screen, hosting a detuned Ed Miliband speech in replace of the vocals. We revisited the song many times over the years but it never felt quite Home Counties. Over the last year, however, as our sound was shifting we gave it one last go.”
‘Wild Guess’ serves as a prelude to Home Counties’ notable sonic shift, embracing a more dance-orientated sensibility and an ambitious, inventive attention to detail, all while maintaining a focus on melody in its purest form. Lois Kelly, the band’s new vocalist since late 2022, completes their transformation, leading Home Counties to fully embrace the power of a good time.
Home Counties’ debut album Exactly As It Seems is due for release on May 3rd, 2024, via Submarine Cat Records. Their new single ‘Wild Guess’ is out now.
