London sextet Home Counties have unveiled their new single ‘Meet Me In The Flat Roof,’ a witty yet heartfelt tribute to the capital’s flat roof pubs.

The track serves as the latest preview from the band’s highly anticipated second album Humdrum, out 24th October via Submarine Cat Records. Produced by Al Doyle of Hot Chip and LCD Soundsystem, the single exemplifies Home Counties’ knack for wrapping sharp cultural observations in lush, infectious melodies. With knowing lines that poke fun at the smugness of “authentic” pub culture and tender moments that capture fleeting intimacy, ‘Meet Me In The Flat Roof’ is as much self-critique as it is appreciation.

Speaking on the song, singer Will Harrison explained:

“On one level it’s pub appreciation, a love letter (of sorts) – but one I hope conveys some self-awareness of how insufferable it makes me sound. It’s about that tendency to brag about going to ‘authentic’ places whilst simultaneously contributing to their gentrification at the same time. The joke’s on us as much as anything.”

‘Meet Me In The Flat Roof’ is out now. Humdrum arrives 24th October on Submarine Cat Records and is available for pre-order. Tickets for the winter headline tour are on sale now.
