High. are thrown into grief with new single ‘Catcher’

New Jersey-based band High. has unveiled their latest single, ‘Catcher,’ offering a poignant exploration of loss and longing. The track serves as the second preview of their forthcoming sophomore EP, Come Back Down, which is set to release on January 24, 2025, via Kanine Records.
The single showcases the band’s signature blend of melodic guitar tones and thoughtful lyricism, capturing a sense of bittersweet reflection. The accompanying music video, directed by bassist Bridget Bakie, stars drummer Jack Miller, and was filmed in New Jersey, further amplifying the song’s nostalgic and dreamlike atmosphere. Bakie explains her approach to the video: “I used the boat as a metaphor for staying afloat through grief, while still moving and trying to find peace. The vast lake and the change of seasons are also a part of that.”
Reflecting on the collaborative nature of the song, Bakie shares:
“I came to the band with the structure chords and bassline of this song, I am very attached to the music personally.”
With ‘Catcher,’ High. deliver a heartfelt and introspective glimpse into the emotional depth of their upcoming EP.
