Heaven unveils lush, nostalgic soundscapes with ‘I Need You More Somehow’

New York City-based power-popgaze trio Heaven has released ‘I Need You More Somehow,’ the first single from their upcoming album Dream Aloud, set to arrive on April 4, 2025, via Little Cloud Records.
‘I Need You More Somehow’ is a sonic blend of timeless melodies and reverb-soaked guitars, rooted in a dreamy, nostalgic atmosphere. The track juxtaposes two worlds, balancing longing and contentment through its lyrics and intricate instrumentation. Grounded by layers of feedback, it hints at the emotional depth and introspective exploration that defines the upcoming album. The accompanying VHS-inspired video, shot at NYC’s Mercury Lounge, adds to the retro charm, drenched in swirling pink and blue stage lights and evoking a hazy, 1980s vibe.
Matt Sumrow (vocalist and guitarist) says:
“Both at home on the beach in California or a seedy underground nightclub in Glasgow or Berlin, the song layers two worlds. The lyrics are purposefully ambiguous, needing more of someone and longing for more connection, but also sounding content and blissful with the present situation at the same time.”
As Heaven gears up for their first album in seven years, ‘I Need You More Somehow’ serves as a compelling introduction to Dream Aloud.
