Heaven For Real shares haunting and playful ‘Hold Me Back’ ahead of new album
Heaven For Real return with ‘Hold Me Back,’ a cinematic yet lighthearted single teasing their upcoming album Who Died & Made You The Dream?, out November 7 via Mint Records.
‘Hold Me Back’ closes the three sonic suites explored on the record, blending a haunting mood with playful charm. Featuring Jen Yakamovich on drums and Olivia Scriven on second vocal, the track reflects on the impossibility of fully observing one’s own life from the outside. Its accompanying video, directed by Jordan Minkoff, takes an offbeat turn — what began as experimental visuals evolved into a narrative centered on the absurdly funny concept of “haunted hair,” merging the eerie with the goofy in a way that mirrors the song’s layered tone.
“‘Hold Me Back’ is a super collaborative track about holding onto the feeling of letting go. Featuring Jen Yakamovich on drums and Olivia Scriven on second vocal, it’s the final stage of the three sounds we’re exploring on Who Died…, carrying the idea of trying to observe your own life as an outsider, and how that’s ultimately also like, a failure — one of the album’s guiding themes.”
‘Hold Me Back’ is out now, with Who Died & Made You The Dream? to follow on November 7.
