Grumpy shares tender new single ‘Flower’ alongside video co-starring May Rio

NYC-based band Grumpy, led by Heaven Schmitt, has unveiled their latest single ‘Flower’ from their upcoming Wolfed EP, out October 25th on Bayonet Records.
‘Flower’ shifts away from the electronic textures heard in previous singles like ‘Saltlick’ and ‘Protein,’ instead offering a delicate waltz that builds with strings and harmonies over a simple guitar figure. The song explores the idea of love evolving beyond romantic confines, emphasizing that relationships may end, but love can endure in a different form.
Reflecting on the song, Schmitt explains:
“Relationships aren’t forever, but love can be. ‘Flower’ is about how, for me, at this stage of my life, love isn’t about building a permanent commitment to someone, it’s about nurturing a bond so that it may last a lifetime. In Flower, I accept the end of a relationship with a peacefulness and gratitude that it happened at all. When I love someone, I know that love is bound to change shape, rather than dissolve, post romance.”
With ‘Flower,’ Grumpy continues to push their sound into new emotional territory while maintaining the inventive production flourishes that have made their music stand out. Fans can look forward to hearing the full EP later this month.
