Cult New York indie duo Frog kicks off 2025 with their latest single, ‘Mixtape Liner Notes Var. VII,’ offering fans a preview of their upcoming sixth album, 1000 Variations on the Same Song, set for release on February 14th via Audio Antihero and Tapewormies.

‘Mixtape Liner Notes Var. VII’ showcases Frog’s signature blend of indie, folk, and alt-country influences while weaving together Daniel Bateman’s lyrical depth and a subtle yet captivating arrangement. With a warm, introspective tone, the track reflects Frog’s knack for crafting relatable yet layered songs.

Speaking about the album’s theme, Daniel Bateman explains:

1000 Variations on the Same Song is a theme and variations—there are times in your life as a songwriter where you’ll start a bunch of stuff that all sounds alike, which can be a problem, something that you want to excise from yourself. This time I decided to embrace it and take it as far as it could go.”

As Frog prepares for the album release and their upcoming North American tour, ‘Mixtape Liner Notes Var. VII’ sets the tone for a project that promises to be eclectic, emotional, and uniquely cohesive.
