Frances Mistry calls for change with new single ‘Something Has to Give’

Brighton-based musician Frances Mistry shares her latest single, ‘Something Has to Give,’ a poignant call for change in today’s socio-political landscape. Released via APOLLO Distribution, the track pairs Mistry’s delicate yet commanding vocals with an urgent message about the state of the world.
Despite its gentle, melodic sound, ‘Something Has to Give’ carries a weighty theme, urging reflection on political stagnation and the need for reform. Mistry captures the disillusionment of a generation, addressing the frustrations of witnessing a system that continues to uphold harmful ideologies. Through soft yet determined instrumentation, she delivers a powerful statement on the necessity of progress.
On the track, Frances Mistry explains:
“I wrote this song when I was feeling pretty disheartened with what was happening in the world in regards to politics and human rights (which happens everyday, to be honest). I’ve just been concerned with the rapid descent into what I would say is fascism and the acceptance from the liberal system who try to paint themselves different to parties like the Tories or Reform but ultimately do nothing but nurture the same harmful belief systems. There is a lack of left wing presence within our political system right now and there needs to be a change. “something has to give” is just a phrase I hear people repeating about the state of things and, yes, something must have to give soon. We can’t keep going on like this.”
‘Something Has to Give’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
