London-based indie-art rock outfit, Flat Party emerges with an electrifying and politically charged single, ‘Hindsight,’ offering a stirring glimpse into their forthcoming self-titled debut EP scheduled for release on January 19th, 2024, via Submarine Cat Records.
Produced under the expertise of Andy Savours (known for his collaborations with My Bloody Valentine, Black Country New Road, Rina Sawayama, and Sorry) at Battery Studios in northwest London, ‘Hindsight’ encapsulates Flat Party’s impassioned outcry against divisive immigration policies and inadequate leadership.
Speaking on the new single ‘Hindsight,’ Jack sheds light on the lyrics behind the track:
“The lyrics for this came just after the first lockdown, which inspired the anger behind the end passage. There’s a lot to unpack with the rest of the song, but it’s ultimately about frustration, especially at the attitudes that are commonly directed to our generation about the state of the world and how “ungrateful” we are.”
On the creation of the song, guitarist Rory O’Rourke added:
“Musically, it was a song that seemingly materialised out of nowhere. Once the chords were recorded, the rest just flowed effortlessly – which doesn’t happen too often. I shared it with Jack, who then helped craft the big grandiose ending.”
The band’s self-titled EP is now available for pre-order, arriving both on 12″ vinyl and digitally via Bandcamp. The EP promises an immersive journey through five compelling compositions, offering a glimpse into Flat Party’s dynamic sonic landscape. ‘Hindsight,’ their lead single is available now on Submarine Cat Records.
