Toronto-based artist Eliza Niemi has released ‘DM BF,’ the final single from her upcoming album Progress Bakery, due out March 21st via Tin Angel Records.

Written in isolation in a remote wooded area, ‘DM BF’ is inspired by Niemi’s thoughts on the cryptid Dogman and the idea of forming a connection with something that may or may not exist. Sonically, the track blends intimate vocals with gentle yet rhythmic instrumentation, embodying the tension between yearning and detachment. The accompanying video, directed by Jo Passed and filmed in the mountains of Vancouver, captures the song’s emotional peaks and valleys, mirroring its themes of longing and self-reflection.

Niemi explains:

“When I wrote this song I was living alone with no internet in a remote, wooded area. I’d been thinking a lot about the cryptid Dogman that year. I wondered what it would be like to see him there in those woods, from the window I wrote at each day. I felt connected to him. I thought of how love can feel like this–like being connected to something that might not even exist, or might just all be in your head. ‘DM BF’ stands for ‘Dogman Boyfriend,’ but is also just about DMing your lover. It’s about yearning to connect but not being able to. It’s about solitude, inner narratives, and my relationship with myself.”

‘DM BF’ is out now.
