Devarrow announces new album Heart Shaped Rock / Releases lead single and video for ‘Likewise’
Canadian musician and producer Graham Ereaux, known as Devarrow, has announced the release of his new album Heart Shaped Rock, set to drop on October 4, 2024, via Paper Bag Records.
Davarrow’s new single, ‘Likewise,’ was first conceived in 2019 during an artist residency in Banff. He has since re-engineered the track for Heart Shaped Rock, resulting in a song that captures the essence of small-town life with an abstract twist. The video, directed by Halifax’s Riley Lamarche, reflects the song’s ethos, balancing humor and beauty while providing a glimpse into coastal town life.

“Reflecting the ethos of the song and its somewhat abstract and meaningless inception, the video came about in a similar fashion. Abandoning strong narratives, Riley focused more on producing a video that feels abstract while still being human. It’s about small-town life, but also not, it’s about being an outsider, but also not, it’s about nothing and a lot, all at the same time.”
Despite his busy life as a carpenter, surfer, and nature lover in rural coastal Canada, Devarrow’s new album Heart Shaped Rock showcases his continued musical evolution. The album is promoted as embracing simplicity and introspection, with Devarrow finding solace in stepping away from technology and enjoying quiet moments by his wood stove. Through this album, he aims to revitalize the folk genre, offering a fresh perspective on love, loss, and self-discovery.
