Montréal-based producer Das Mörtal dives deep into his roots with the release of his newest single ‘Falsche Daten,’ out now via Lisbon Lux Records.

Serving as the first taste of his Origins EP (out April 30, 2025), ‘Falsche Daten’ is a visceral, full-throttle techno experience that showcases the genre-defying artist at his most unfiltered. Created during the formative stages of his career, the track resurrects the intensity of his early influences while cementing his current collision of acid, modular, and industrial techno with a distinctly cinematic edge.

A hypnotic four-on-the-floor rhythm anchors the track, while distorted synths writhe and mutate above pulsing 808s and harsh, textural atmospheres. Das Mörtal draws from the sonic lineage of Surgeon, Richie Hawtin, and Ø [phase], but filters it through a modern, maximalist lens. Bursts of frenetic hi-hats and cascading noise give “Falsche Daten” a dynamic momentum that nods to 90s rave culture without feeling retro.

Das Mortal told us:

“‘Falsche Daten’ was created early on my producing career while channeling my techno influences of the time which were The Hacker & Vitalic. Like all the tracks from ORIGINS, it was made to stand on its own, outside of the album or EP format, and represented a specific moment in time of my early years trying to find out what my sound was. ORIGINS collect these ideas made during those formative years that still represent the Das Mörtal sound of today.”

With over 60 million streams to his name and a touring history that includes opening slots for Vitalic, Perturbator, and Carpenter Brut, Das Mörtal proves once again that he’s a fearless force in underground electronic music. ORIGINS is out now.
