Cola release their new single ‘Hedgesitting’ and announce the album Cost of Living Adjustment, out May 8 via Fire Talk Records. The Montreal trio—Tim Darcy (vocals/guitar), Ben Stidworthy (bass), and Evan Cartwright (drums)—introduce the lead track from their third record with an accompanying video directed by Kristina Pedersen.

‘Hedgesitting’ reflects the band’s shift from what they describe as “tasteful minimalism” toward a more expansive approach. The single pairs live drums with a sample drum loop, underscoring the album’s move toward maximalism while retaining the group’s precise, collaborative songwriting. Described as lush and deconstructed, the track opens with Darcy singing, “When you were young,” Darcy sings at the song’s start, “you came to make it.” The song began with chords Darcy sent to the band, later expanded collectively, with Stidworthy remixing it before heading into the studio.

‘Hedgesitting’ is out now, with Cost of Living Adjustment arriving May 8 via Fire Talk Records. The single is available to stream and album is available for pre-order.
