Charlie Vaughan teases EP with bittersweet new single ‘I Know You (And I Know You Well)’

London-based singer/songwriter Charlie Vaughan shares the second teaser from his upcoming EP, Thank You, Joe Fernandez.
‘I Know You (And I Know You Well)’ takes a more introspective turn compared to Vaughan’s previous single ‘Timebomb.’ Channeling the influence of 60s pop art while staying grounded in present-day emotions, the track tells a heartfelt story of revisiting the past to say goodbye to a friend. The song is rich with classic British songwriting traditions, a hallmark of Vaughan’s style that has drawn comparisons to artists like Ray Davies and Elvis Costello.
On the meaning behind the track, Vaughan explains:
“The narrator is on a trip back to somewhere familiar and deeply nostalgic to say goodbye to an old friend. It’s about leaving the past behind to become the person you want to be. The song seemed to be the perfect start to the EP when I was sequencing the tunes and it encapsulates the general mood and feeling I had when writing the songs for this project.”
With Thank You, Joe Fernandez on the horizon (November 22), ‘I Know You (And I Know You Well)’ sets the tone for what promises to be a thoughtful and emotional project from an artist poised to make waves in the British guitar-pop scene.
