Blue Bayou spin up new single ‘Carousel Song’ ahead of UK tour
Oxford and London-based band Blue Bayou release their third single, ‘Carousel Song.’ The self-released track follows the group’s earlier singles ‘December Flowers’ and ‘Hide & Seek,’ continuing a steady run of releases alongside consistent touring across the UK.
‘Carousel Song’ leans into Blue Bayou’s new wave and chamber pop foundations, incorporating horns and strings while favoring texture and atmosphere over polished clarity. Recorded to tape and self-produced in a home studio, the track prioritizes warmth through tape hum, overtones, and rack reverb. Its opening verse layers distant strings and bells over a sparse guitar line before a re-harmonizing bassline subtly shifts the song’s emotional footing. Violin, vibraphone, and improvised percussion swirl throughout the arrangement, creating a sense of movement that mirrors the song’s imagery and tone.
Following the release of ‘Carousel Song,’ Blue Bayou will head out on a UK tour next month. The single release is also accompanied by the launch of a new website, merchandise, a mailing list, and a live session tied to the track.
‘Carousel Song’ is available now to stream on all major platforms.
