Art d’Ecco confronts inner darkness with ‘True Believer’

Art d’Ecco delves into the allure of internal conflict and the seduction of evil with his latest single, ‘True Believer,’ the opening track from his forthcoming album Serene Demon, set for release on February 14, 2025, via Paper Bag Records.
‘True Believer’ encapsulates the theme of duality that defines Serene Demon. Drawing inspiration from the metaphor of good and evil coexisting within us, the track explores the idea of a “tiny demon” on one’s shoulder, tempting self-destruction. Its darkly cinematic sound is accompanied by a visually striking video directed by Brendan Fletcher, influenced by classic horror films such as Nosferatu and Frankenstein.
Art d’Ecco explains:
“‘Serene Demon’ is a metaphor. Think of it as the duality of good and evil. We are all capable of inhabiting both worlds, but most of us intrinsically strive to inhabit the good. ‘True Believer’ is about the seduction of evil from within us. Perhaps it’s a metaphor for depression? Or an invasive thought that implores one to self-destruct? I was imagining a tiny little demon dancing on my shoulder, seducing me to come to the dark side…”
‘True Believer,’ is out now.
