Archie Sagers unveils dreamy krautrock inspired single ‘Fistral’

Brighton-based musician, producer, and label head Archie Sagers has shared his latest single ‘Fistral,’ out August 20 via Crafting Room Recordings. The track arrives ahead of his upcoming sophomore album Dreams Along The Shore, set for release on September 12.
Produced by Matthew Gleeson of Welly and recorded in a marathon session at Sussex Studio A, ‘Fistral’ highlights the heavier side of Sagers’ sound. With a driving groove and darker tones, the track expresses the unease of returning to a changed place from the past. Inspired by childhood memories of Cornwall’s beaches, especially Fistral in Newquay, the song blends krautrock influences with a haunting, nostalgic atmosphere.
Sagers states:
“‘Fistral’ is named after the UK’s premier surfing beach in Newquay (Cornwall) where I spent a lot of time with my family when growing up. I found myself returning in dreams to the beach at night and on my own. I wrote the song inspired by those dreams and that strange haunting feeling of returning to a place from your past that has forever changed. That unnerving feeling inspired the darker and heavier instrumentation; I tried to capture that effect with the bass VI arpeggio that starts the song. In reality the beach is much the same as ever, but I no longer feel as connected to it – more like a tourist in somewhere I used to belong.”
‘Fistral’ offers a compelling preview of Dreams Along The Shore, Sagers’ second album. Drawing inspiration from the Cornish coastline, the record reflects summers spent with family and friends by the sea, channeling nostalgia while acknowledging the inevitability of change.
