Stockholm-based artist and songwriter Amanda Cy ushers in a new era with her latest single, ‘Know Nothing,’ a divine and minimalistic pop gem that signifies a personal and creative transformation.

The song, produced in collaboration with Teddy Failure, serves as the introduction to Amanda’s upcoming project, highlighting a musical journey influenced by a mix of Robyn’s synth-pop, Joy Division’s foundational angst, Phantom Youth’s modern goth melodrama, and flowerovlove’s effortless cool. Inspired by a chance encounter with an ex-lover, the track captures the surreal feeling of realizing that someone once intimately known is now a stranger.

Written a few days after she ran into an ex, Amanda adds:

“It felt like we were just acquaintances, like the five years we spent together didn’t really happen. In one way that was great, because I was finally over a pretty bad breakup, in another way it was so weird that someone I used to be so close with was a stranger all of a sudden.”

The music video, a collaboration with her sister’s production company, adds a visual dimension to the narrative, capturing the fiery hues of Stockholm at dusk.

‘Know Nothing’ is out today.
