Amanda Cy’s emotionally charged single ‘A Mother’s Touch’ sets the stage for her upcoming Waterworks EP

Amanda Cy is not only sharing her soul-stirring single, but she’s also announcing she will also join Griff for a series of live performances next week in Stockholm, Oslo, and Copenhagen.
Stockholm-based singer/songwriter Amanda Cy unveils her intimate new single, ‘A Mother’s Touch.’ Follow-up to her recent single, ‘Know Nothing,’ the deeply personal ballad, released today, delves into the profound emotion of missing someone never truly known—inspired by Amanda’s own experience of losing her mother just weeks after birth. In collaboration with Marcus White, the two brought the chorus to life during the initial recording session. The song, developed over a year, encapsulates the complexities of emotional healing.
Reflecting on the single’s creation, Amanda shares:
“The idea for the song came in stages over the course of a few years, first the title, then a few lines here and there and lastly the chords and melody. For many years I had a pretty harsh “get-over-it” attitude towards myself, so this song was kind of a reminder that it’s okay to grieve something even if it happened a long time ago, or you’re not really sure what it is.”
‘A Mother’s Touch’ is just a glimpse into the broader emotional landscape explored in the Waterworks EP. Amanda confesses that writing this body of work has been an immensely rewarding experience, pulling her out of a creative slump and reaffirming her belief in her artistry.
Discussing the project as a whole Amanda says:
“Writing Waterworks has been one of the most rewarding experiences ever. After a challenging period in my career and losing some of my belief in my own artistry, I never thought that I’d be able to finish a body of work, but with each song emerging, I was writing my way out of a pretty long creative slump.”
Catch Amanda Cy live as she opens for Griff on the following dates:
March 10 – Stockholm
March 11 – Oslo
March 12 – Copenhagen
‘A Mother’s Touch’ is out now. Waterworks EP is out April 25th.
