Alex Amen’s ‘Diamonds’ is the new single from the Texas-born indie folk-country artist, arriving with news of his debut album Sun of Amen, due June 12th.

‘Diamonds’ presents a slow-moving, reflective entry into Amen’s sound, built on warm, analog textures and an unhurried arrangement that draws from classic folk and country traditions. Produced by Amen and engineered by Jonny Bell, the track leans into a natural, tape-driven aesthetic, reinforcing its understated tone. The song reflects on life and love gained and lost during his time in California, pairing detailed storytelling with a sense of distance and movement. Its accompanying video features footage of Amen rock climbing, his time in Vashon, where he took up wooden boatbuilding, and his sailing excursion from Washington to Canada.

Amen comments:

“With this album, we were meticulous about creating something high-quality while recording in a more traditional way, which has its own challenges—older gear is temperamental, so sometimes we’d have to break for three hours because the tape machine caught on fire.”

‘Diamonds’ serves as a central introduction to Sun of Amen, setting the stage for the album’s exploration of personal transitions, place, and memory.
