Adore release charged new single ‘Can We Talk’

Irish garage-punk trio Adore has unleashed their latest single, ‘Can We Talk,’ an intense and melodic garage-punk track confronting the cycles of abuse.
Produced by Gilla Band bassist Daniel Fox, ‘Can We Talk’ builds on the fierce energy of Adore’s previous release, ‘Supermum!’ and arrives just in time for the band’s upcoming UK tour with Sprints this month. The track is a visceral exploration of control and manipulation within toxic relationships. Vocalist and guitarist Lara Minchin delivers a raw, yet wryly humorous performance, her voice cutting through the powerful, guitar-driven instrumentals. Adore’s fierce, unapologetic style adds a gritty edge, bringing their message to life with emotional depth and immediacy.
Reflecting on the song’s meaning, Minchin shared:
“Can We Talk revolves around a pattern of abuse where one is picked up when broken, broken down even farther, and is moulded into something subservient, meek, and willing to please… It’s only when it gets genuinely frightening that you realise that the threat has always been there.”
With ‘Can We Talk,’ Adore underscores their mission to address societal issues head-on, grounding their music in punk influences like The Breeders and Yeah Yeah Yeahs while creating something distinct and powerful. Adore’s new single is out now, setting the stage for their hometown headline show at Whelan’s, Dublin, on December 8th.
