100%WET release ethereal single ‘Over Me’ alongside debut music video
100%WET begins 2025 with a bold statement, unveiling their new single ‘Over Me’ and an accompanying debut music video. Released via Crunchy Frog Recordings, the track is a captivating blend of drum and bass, hyperpop, and shoegaze—a signature style the duo has coined as “hypergaze.”
‘Over Me’ captures the emotional turmoil of heartbreak, weaving shoegaze’s iconic “wall of sound” with frenetic breakbeats and deep, rumbling sub-bass. At its heart, ‘Over Me’ explores the poignant question posed in its lyrics: “Are you over me?” The haunting vocals of Amalie Hannibal Petri (Polly) add a dreamlike quality, perfectly complementing the song’s dynamic shifts between chaotic rave energy and lush, atmospheric guitars.
Speaking about the track, the duo—composed of Casper Munns and Jakob Birch—shared:
“When we met, we both needed to approach music-making from a fresh perspective. We’d been exploring electronic production styles, and this song became our mutual attempt to create drum’n’gaze… embracing an epic structure while staying true to our rock roots and passion for uptempo dance music.”
The accompanying music video, directed by Ada Grüter, expands the song’s narrative into a surreal visual journey. The protagonist chases a shining star through a dreamscape of memories, creativity, and abstract landscapes, mirroring the catharsis of the song itself. Using a mix of found footage, 3D animations, and vibrant illustrations, Grüter creates a lush and ethereal world, with lighting and a PlayStation 1-inspired aesthetic adding a playful yet profound touch.
