London-based indie-pop band Chest release their new single ‘SO BETTER NOW’ today, leading up to the February 27th release of their EP, never really here, via Warmth Records. Produced by Thomas Coath, known for his work with Sam Fender and Pale Waves, the track marks a continuation of the band’s immersive, energetic sound.

‘SO BETTER NOW’ is a restless, buoyant indie-pop anthem built on driving drums, tightly wound guitars, and glowing electronic flourishes. While the chorus feels almost celebratory, the lyrics carry unease, reflecting real-world imagery that inspired the song. The track balances sardonic commentary with danceable energy, following the intensity of previous singles like “MACHINE” and “NUMB,” while turning focus outward to societal irony and chaos.

Speaking on the single, vocalist and lyricist Joel Reader said:

“The song came from two images stuck in my head. A McDonald’s sign on fire in the LA wildfires, an incredibly sardonic image of American excess literally fuelling its own destruction. And the moment after the Trump attempt, his fist raised dripping in vulgarity and violence. The song grew from the feeling those two pictures created together exploring the irony and humour in nihilistic release. Lyrically it is the most outward looking track we’ve released, it’s a commentary on the world rather than self exploration.”

‘SO BETTER NOW’ is available now to stream and download on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, and all major digital platforms.
