Australian songwriter and producer Monsieur Mellow, the solo project of Callum MacDonald, has released his debut single ‘Paris Strut.’ Best known as a core member of R&B and soul outfit daste., MacDonald introduces a new creative chapter with the groove-led track, which is out now and available to stream.

‘Paris Strut’ is a jazz-house release built around warmth, movement, and instinct. Drawing from funk, disco, reggae, and Caribbean influences, the track leans into a lived-in feel, prioritizing groove and flow over polish. The production centers on understated drums, soft pads, guitar, and bass, all woven together to feel like a band performing together in a room. At its core is a raw a cappella sample from Parbleu’s ‘Pas de Saints Au Paradis,’ chopped and layered to add emotional texture and rhythmic lift.

MacDonald explains:

“After returning home from touring Europe with my band daste., the time on the road left me deeply inspired by Caribbean, reggae, disco, and funk. For the first time I felt a clear sense of direction for music that existed outside of the band.”

‘Paris Strut’ is available now on all streaming platforms.
