Sunnan set sail with cinematic new single ‘Sail (Lady In Waiting)’ ahead of 2026 album
Swedish Grammy-nominated cinematic soul band Sunnan release their new single ‘Sail (Lady In Waiting),’ out now January 9, 2026 via AWAL, marking the first UK-facing release from the group ahead of their forthcoming sophomore album Spaghetti Soul, due later in 2026.
‘Sail (Lady In Waiting)’ introduces the next chapter in Sunnan’s sound, blending Morricone-inspired orchestration with vintage soul foundations and psychedelic rock textures. The track moves between sweeping cinematic arrangements and electric guitar-driven moments, drawing on the experimental spirit of late-era Beatles alongside Hendrix’s raw edge. Built on lush production, the song balances classical aesthetics with modern studio polish, creating a sound that feels deliberately timeless while remaining firmly contemporary.
Rooted in soulful melody, the single weaves together psychedelic flourishes and rock ‘n’ roll grit without losing its emotional core. Its structure and instrumentation reflect Sunnan’s continued interest in soundtrack-style storytelling, presenting a carefully layered composition that rewards close listening while remaining accessible.
The band explains:
“‘Sail’ is the bridge from Cinema Sound System to our sophomore album Spaghetti Soul. Leaning into our cinematic roots and timeless soundtracks like ‘Hurricane’ and ‘All Along the Watchtower’, the song portrays the legend of a life well lived — beauty preserved in memory, and hope for one last ride.”
‘Sail (Lady In Waiting)’ is available now on all streaming platforms.
