Flip Top Head unveil ‘Porcelain Plugs’ ahead of Trilateral Machine EP
Flip Top Head has released their new single ‘Porcelain Plugs’ today, sharing the latest track from their upcoming EP Trilateral Machine, due January 23rd via Blitzcat Records.
The Brighton-based art-rock group front-loads their latest release with a sense of tension and fragility, as ‘Porcelain Plugs’ unfolds through shifting dynamics and stark contrasts. The single moves between delicate restraint and dramatic expansion, reflecting the band’s tendency to blur the lines between folk-inflected baroque pop and operatic art-rock. Inspired by Sylvia Plath’s writing in The Bell Jar, the song explores themes of guilt and vulnerability, using surreal and existential lyricism to examine emotional exposure. Its seismic mood changes and gothic undertones position it among the band’s most expansive recordings to date, while still retaining a sense of intimacy at its core.
Speaking about the track, lead vocalist Bowie Bartlett says:
“With inspiration from the great Sylvia Plath’s words on baths, ‘Porcelain Plugs’ addresses guilt and vulnerability- and how a hot bath fixes everything.”
‘Porcelain Plugs’ is now streaming on all major platforms.
We’ve covered Flip Top Head previously: ‘What I Really Want To Know,’ ‘So Much For Mole Catching,’ and ‘Alfred Street.’
