Austra returns with hypnotic new track ‘Fallen Cloud’
Canadian electronic artist Austra returns with her new single ‘Fallen Cloud,’ out now via Domino, offering the final preview of her forthcoming fifth album, Chin Up Buttercup, due November 14, 2025.
‘Fallen Cloud’ captures Austra’s signature balance between euphoria and melancholy—a lush, synth-driven reverie that channels the shimmering pulse of early-2000s new-age dance music. Swelling layers of melody and rhythm blend into a dreamlike soundscape, reflecting both the beauty and ache of her introspective storytelling.
Of the new single, Austra (aka Katie Austra Stelmanis) says:
“Although I didn’t realize until long after this song was finished, ‘Fallen Cloud’ is a song that takes place during the bargaining stage of grief. It begins with a desperate attempt to change an undesired romantic outcome, but after spending a bit too much time imagining different scenarios, I become enveloped by the dream-like fantasy of an alternate life. This song is meant to make you feel like you’re floating in a sweet cloud of delusion.”
In support of the album, Austra will embark on a 2026 North American and European tour, with stops including Brooklyn, Chicago, Los Angeles, Paris, Berlin, and London. Tickets are available now at austra.fyi.
‘Fallen Cloud’ is out now on all streaming platforms. Chin Up Buttercup arrives November 14 via Domino.
