Delaney Bailey previews Concave with honest new single ‘Nightshade’
Chicago songwriter Delaney Bailey returns with ‘Nightshade,’ a delicate, devastating preview of her sophomore album, Concave (January 21, 2026, via AWAL).
Built around soft guitar riffs and Bailey’s signature ethereal vocals, ‘Nightshade’ examines the relationship between self-worth and disordered eating. Through intimate lyricism and restrained production, Bailey confronts perfectionism and the pressure of perception, singing, “Hunger’s not power, your hands are shaking.” The song’s quiet power lies in its vulnerability—an exploration of personal recovery through a hauntingly gentle soundscape.
Bailey shares:
“‘Nightshade’ is a song about the hardships I’ve been through with eating in my life. Although it’s something that I’ve overcome in recent years and I’ve found the joy in eating again, it is something I have to actively remind myself of… When I felt I had done something wrong, when I was nervous, when something made me sad, I would forget to eat. I began to make myself smaller, mentally (and in turn, physically), to be perfect in every situation I was in.”
Bailey’s Midwest headlining tour kicks off this week with stops in Davenport, Bloomington, Detroit, and Chicago, where she will perform her newest material live for the first time. Her latest single, ‘Nightshade,’ can now be streamed on all major platforms.
