SUUNCAAT releases experimental new single ‘Signs’ and self-directed music video
Montreal-based artist, producer, and filmmaker SUUNCAAT returns with her new single ‘Signs,’ out now on all streaming platforms. The track marks her first fully self-mixed release, pushing deeper into the experimental edge of pop, electronic, and cinematic sound design.
Built from haunted synths, eruptive drum & bass breaks, and ethereal melodies, ‘Signs’ unfolds as a ritual in sound—blurring the boundaries between electronic ecstasy, tragedy, and transcendence. The track merges hyperpop’s emotional volatility with the precision of classical composition, revisiting the myth of the “golden violin child,” a recurring figure in SUUNCAAT’s evolving body of work. The song explores the trauma of early giftedness, purity, and the transformation of adoration into persecution.
SUUNCAAT shares:
“As a very young child, I was targeted for being some kind of musical prodigy, and was forced to play violin too young at an unhealthy level, which gave me postural injuries and essentially broke my body. I now carry those injuries like a kind of stigmata — the ‘sign.’ The violin enters in the second part of the song as both a weapon and a wound.”
‘Signs’ is available now on all streaming platforms. Watch the video below.
