Dog Saints share post-hardcore new single ‘Wrestlevania’
London-based post-hardcore and shoegaze newcomers Dog Saints return with their new single ‘Wrestlevania,’ produced by Judwyn Rushton of thistle.
‘Wrestlevania’ finds Dog Saints blending the sweetened melodies of Alex G with the raw, alt-shoegaze intensity of feeble little horse. The song’s name was inspired by “a failed Romanian GoFundMe for a vampire wrestling movie,” and musically it straddles a dynamic space between tenderness and eruption. Recorded in Northampton alongside b-side ‘Hornets,’ the single’s layered guitars and cathartic vocals underscore the band’s growing confidence and sonic ambition.
Frontman Will Goltz explains,
“Lyrically the song is about wrestling, both because of a stupid pun we refuse to give up, but also a lot of memories and insecurities I have about fighting as a boy. I remember being around a lot of WWE memorabilia and always pretending to look down on it, pretending to be too smart for it but also acting from a real insecurity about my own boyish weakness. The exact title comes from a failed Romanian Gofundme for a vampire wrestling movie. I think we had to use it.”
‘Wrestlevania’ and its b-side ‘Hornets’ are out now and available on all streaming platforms.
