Helado Negro releases ‘Protector’ from forthcoming EP The Last Sound On Earth

Helado Negro (Roberto Carlos Lange) has released his new single ‘Protector’ today (October 14, 2025) via Big Dada. The track arrives ahead of his forthcoming EP The Last Sound On Earth, due November 7. Alongside the release, Lange announced two live shows: November 18 at Public Records in New York and December 18 at Zey Zey in Miami.
‘Protector’ unfolds over woozy, ominous synths as Lange delivers a cynical reflection on the illusion that those in power act in the public’s best interest. The track builds into a noisy crescendo of classic jungle breaks, slicing through layers of echoing vocals that feel both chaotic and cathartic. Accompanied by an official visualizer, the single finds Lange exploring a darker, more confrontational sound while maintaining his signature warmth and introspection.
Lange reflects:
“My brother brought home a stack of techno and jungle compilations in ’94 that shifted my entire perspective of music. I’d never fully committed to capturing that feeling through Helado Negro, but this EP is a dedication to these specific roots: the Miami bass, freestyle, jungle, and electronic dance music I grew up dancing to. The title and theme Protector is rooted in two foundational songs—BDP’s ‘Who Protects Us From You’ and Massive Attack’s ‘Protection.’ Ultimately, ‘Protector’ is two things. We all need protection—physically, mentally, and spiritually—but we also have a reciprocal duty to protect.”
The Last Sound On Earth EP is out November 7 via Big Dada. ‘Protector’ is available now on all streaming platforms.
