Kit Sebastian unveils ‘Certain Things You Can’t Explain’ single

Kit Sebastian, the vibrant duo of Merve Erdem and K. Martin, return with the single ‘Certain Things You Can’t Explain (I’ll Just Let Myself Go),’ out now on Brainfeeder.
Built on K.’s funky multi-instrumental backbone, the track weaves Azerbaijani-accented 12-string guitars, brass, and string quartets. Inspired by classic French chanson and arrangers like François de Roubaix and Michel Legrand, it balances melancholia and playfulness. The story centers on two people afraid to admit they’re in love. Merve’s soaring vocal leads, joined by Muné Sugiyama (trumpet), Nicole Barracks (violin), and Theo Guttenplan (drums, cello).
K explains:
“The idea of taking a melancholic song and giving it a more playful arrangement, with instruments coming in and out was integral to making this song. The main instrumental hook is a 12 string electric guitar which at times flirts with Azerbaijani chromaticism, and one can find a wide instrumentation from brass and string quartets to cuica and glockenspiel throughout this song. At its heart, it tells the story of two people too afraid to admit they’re in love.”
‘Certain Things You Can’t Explain (I’ll Just Let Myself Go)’ is out now.
