Grand Rapids duo Cal in Red have shared their latest single ‘Cut The Line,’ the newest preview from their third EP, The Days, which arrives October 3, 2025.

‘Cut The Line’ is an atmospheric bedroom pop track that pairs sun-kissed production with melancholy lyricism. Saturated guitars, warbled keys, and spacious drums create a shimmering backdrop for lyrics reflecting on the dissolution of a relationship. The accompanying video, filmed by Brooke Wichterman and the Wright brothers themselves, captures lighthearted moments on a basketball court—complete with a cameo from Steve Leaf—balancing the song’s emotional depth with playful imagery.

Connor explains:

“This was the last song that came together. It felt more like a puzzle than a song. Despite months of reworking it, it still felt organic. Its end is one of a couple things on this EP that we’ve never tried production-wise.”

With ‘Cut The Line,’ Cal in Red continue to refine their technicolor indie pop sound, offering fans a glimpse into the evolution of their artistry as they prepare to release The Days and take it on the road this fall.
