East Coast indie rock duo Joyer, the project of brothers Nick and Shane Sullivan, have released their latest single ‘Spell,’ a heartfelt and guitar-driven preview of their upcoming album On The Other End of the Line…, out October 24, 2025 via Julia’s War Recordings.

Arriving with a chugging lead guitar riff, ‘Spell’ explores the emotional turbulence of a relationship while leaning into the band’s signature earnestness and textured sound. A live performance video of the track, Spell (Live in the Basement), captures the duo’s raw energy and highlights their ability to translate intricate studio layers into a powerful live setting.

Nick Sullivan explains:

“This was the last song we wrote before getting into the studio, and a lot of it came together in the actual recording process, which was really fun since that was how we used to approach writing back when we used to do everything ourselves. I remember Shane pulling that fuzzy lead out of nowhere and the rest of us immediately being like ‘yup, that’s it,’ and that ultimately became sort of the crux of the song. It’s become one of my favorites on the album because of the circumstances of how it was made — it’s kind of like a time capsule of our time in Chicago making the record.”

With its mix of lo-fi grit, emotional weight, and fuzzy guitar work, ‘Spell’ is a striking chapter in Joyer’s growing catalog and a strong indication of what fans can expect from On The Other End of the Line… this fall.
