Bristol rock duo Oswald Slain return with their latest single ‘Have You Got What You Came Here For?,’ out now ahead of their debut album BUCKY, arriving October 24.

‘Have You Got What You Came Here For?’ is a frenetic, tongue-in-cheek snapshot of the band’s experiences touring through the French Alps. Anchored by driving rhythms, fuzzy guitars, and impromptu energy from their home studio recordings, the single blends angsty rock with a playful sensibility. Drawing from the chaos of youth and the trials of growing up, lyricist Charlie Fitzgerald delivers humor and emotional resonance in a track that’s both rebellious and infectious.

Fitzgerald shares insight into the song’s creation:

“Rhii and I spent a couple of months playing in the bars around the French Alps as a little rocky two-piece. It was really fun. Everyone was always super drunk and it was pretty full on. The crowd just wanted to sing along and dance after a day skiing on the mountain so we would play songs people knew and never really played any original stuff. The movie ‘Saltburn’ had just come out and ‘Murder On The Dance Floor’ by Sophie Ellis Bextor was having a major resurgence. So we played a version of that quite a lot. I wrote the lyrics to ‘Have You Got What You Came Here For?’  in the morning after a particularly fun night playing at Cavern bar in Morzine. The track came alive in the studio with Ryan laying down all the incredible bass bits and Rhii just slaying that drum part. It’s angsty, rebellious and one of our favourites to play live. It has a stupidly long title and some pretty risqué lyrics. It’s definitely the terrier on the upcoming album and stands out from the crowd…. Hopefully in a good way.”

Out now, ‘Have You Got What You Came Here For?” sets the tone for the duo’s debut album, offering a playful yet sincere glimpse into their evolving sound.
