Boston’s Tiberius announces debut album Troubadour with new single ‘Sag’

Boston-based indie outfit Tiberius has announced their highly anticipated debut album Troubadour, set for release on November 14th via Audio Antihero. The announcement comes alongside the release of their new single ‘Sag’ and its accompanying music video, marking a significant milestone for the band that has dubbed their unique sound “Farm Emo.”
Originally conceived as a solo project by songwriter Brendan Wright (they/them), Tiberius has evolved into a dynamic four-piece featuring bassist Kelven “KP” Polite (he/him), drummer Sam Blumenstiel (he/him), and pedal steel player Pat King (they/them). Their sound seamlessly blends indie punk, alt-country, and psychedelia with confessional yet conversational lyrics that resonate with listeners navigating the complexities of modern life.
Their new single ‘Sag’ serves as a perfect introduction to the band’s expanded sonic palette, addressing the common experience of Boston musicians feeling caught between their local scene and the allure of bigger markets. The track explores themes of self-reflection and artistic identity that run throughout the album.
On the song, Brendan Wright states:
“‘Sag’ is about this dreaded ‘Allston to Bushwick’ pipeline we have in Boston. A lot of musicians end up using Boston to cut their teeth before heading off to New York or LA to pursue their music careers. I wrote ‘Sag’ when I was really playing the ‘comparison game’ in my head and asking myself what role I wanted music to play in my life. It was the first in a batch about looking at yourself in relation to the others around you and trying to decipher who you are without that context.”
With pre-orders launching alongside the single release, Tiberius is poised to make their mark beyond the Boston scene with this deeply personal and sonically adventurous collection. Troubadour will be available on November 14th through Audio Antihero. ‘Sag’ is out now.
