London indie-rock quartet announces nationwide tour dates and headline Old Blue Last this Friday.

London-based indie-rock quartet False Futures have returned with their sophomore single ‘Stood Beside The Snakepit, Smiling.’ The track arrives alongside the announcement of debut nationwide tour dates for the end of summer.

Mixed at Konk Studios by Matt Jaggar, who has worked with Sorry, Beth Gibbons, and The Waeve, the new single demonstrates False Futures’ knack for straddling whipsnapping guitar-rush abandon with meticulous songwriting craft. Lead vocalist and songwriter Mat Conner’s stark vocal delivery, peppered with a confrontational northern drawl, checks the track’s bold anthemic tendencies while maintaining its crowd-pleasing sensibilities.

Mat explains:

“The intention was to make a heavy pop song. But underneath the experiential lyrics…when you boil it down, it’s about staying true to your initial intentions and keeping in your own lane, regardless of the noise of what’s goin’ on around you. Aware of, but not swept up by, external influence. Committing to what you think is right at the time….”

‘Stood Beside The Snakepit, Smiling’ is out now. See False Futures live.
