Brooklyn-based indie project Grumpy has returned with a brand new single, ‘Crush,’ the first look at their upcoming EP Piebald, out September 26 via Bayonet Records.

Following a breakout year that included critical acclaim for 2024’s EP and unexpected collaborations with country star Zach Bryan, Grumpy is keeping momentum with ‘Crush’—a song that reflects the emotional confusion and intensity of a pivotal infatuation. Written as a response to a song of the same name written for Schmitt, ‘Crush’ explores the charged space between romantic curiosity and life-altering self-discovery.

“Crush was written years ago, during a time when I kept finding myself at the edge of saying “I love you,” but not quite. It was about all the crushes I’d ever had, but more specifically, it was about one person. They had actually written me a song called “Crush” first, and this was my response.”

‘Crush’ is streaming now, and Piebald is out September 26 via Bayonet.
