late night drive home is back with a new single, ‘american church,’ the third preview from their upcoming debut album as I watch my life online, out June 27 via Epitaph.

Rooted in themes of addiction—both physical and digital—’american church’ dives deep into the blurred line between real connection and online illusion. With glitchy, fragmented production that grows more chaotic toward the song’s end, the band sonically captures the digital overload that dominates modern life. Lyrically, the song critiques how the internet has become the new place of worship, a metaphorical American church where attention is the offering and validation of the gospel.

Guitarist Juan “Ockz” Vargas says:

“The first two songs on the record are really analog, but this one just glitches out on the outro — descending into digital madness. That’s mirrored in the lyrics, which are about seeing someone you love spiral — whether because of the internet or another addiction.”

‘american church’ follows earlier singles ‘terabyte‘ and ‘she came for a sweet time,’ each exploring different facets of online obsession. The trio of tracks previews a debut album that is shaping up to be a layered commentary on the Gen-Z digital experience. as I watch my life online is due out June 27 and promises a full suite of modern vignettes reflecting life as filtered through the screen.

‘american church’ is out now.
