Australian DJ and producer Lemonade Baby has shared another teaser from his upcoming debut album, Stars Stars Stars, slated for release in February.

‘Talk’ originated from a chance meeting between Lemonade Baby and Of Lion at a record store in Nambour, where Of Lion was performing. Their creative chemistry quickly became apparent during a writing session shortly before Lemonade Baby left for Japan. The track features a nostalgic opening piano melody played on a Casio keyboard and lyrics that came together effortlessly during their session.

Reflecting on the process, Lemonade Baby shared:

“Izzy and I met in Nambour at a show she was playing in a record store. We shortly organized a writing session before I left for Japan, we hit it off trading references like Evanescence – Bring Me to Life and The Sundays – Here’s Where the Story Ends. After talking for a few hours, we busted out my Casio keyboard I had, and Izzy played the opening piano melody. Lyrics came very quickly; Izzy wrote some lines on her phone and had an idea of how she wanted to sing it intuitively.”

Of Lion added:

“For me, the lyrics are kinda petty, directed towards someone who only wants to know you when it suits them. The music came together really quickly in the session, and I ended up sticking with the first lyrics I thought of. We didn’t overthink anything, we just went where the music took us that day.”

‘Talk’ is available now on all major streaming platforms via Mammal Sounds Records.
