Liam Mera Kai delivers a soulful shift with ‘Wishbone’
South London rising talent Liam Mera Kai has unveiled his latest single, ‘Wishbone,’ via HeadFirst Records.
‘Wishbone’ showcases Liam’s ability to merge alt hip-hop, neo-soul, and alt R&B with subtle nods to UK garage and jazz. A departure from the grittier tones of his 2023 release ‘The View,’ this track brings a lighter, more soulful energy while maintaining the thoughtful, personal songwriting for which he’s quickly becoming known. From its jazzy beats to Liam’s seamless blend of singing and rapping, Wishbone is a heartfelt exploration of overthinking and doubt, wrapped in a nostalgic yet fresh soundscape.
Liam explains:
“The song is about being uncomfortable. The hope of your relationship working out shouldn’t be dependent on a birthday wish or a shooting star. The universe has its plan.” He adds “I wanted to make a track that reflected overthinking. Something that felt nostalgic yet unique. As if you’d heard it before because you recognised that feeling.”
