Indie noir icons The Slow Readers Club have dropped their latest single, ‘Technofear,’ the first taste of their upcoming seventh album Out Of A Dream, set to be released in March 2025.

‘Technofear’ is a bold statement that dives deep into the anxieties of modern society, particularly the overwhelming presence of technology and social media. Building on their signature sound, the track pairs driving guitar lines with themes of disorientation in a digital world. It serves as a powerful introduction to the band’s next chapter, promising an intense and thought-provoking journey through the album.

Frontman Aaron Starkie explains”

“A song about trying to maintain a solid sense of reality in the face in a world where most of our lives are lived online. Social media is a bewildering landscape where truths, half-truths, and outright falsehoods mingle in a dizzying swirl of information. On one hand, it provides unprecedented access to knowledge and perspectives from around the world; on the other, it amplifies conspiracy theories and misinformation, allowing them to spread with alarming speed.

“The lines between fact and fiction become blurred as echo chambers reinforce people’s beliefs, whether grounded in reality or not. Algorithms, designed to maximise engagement, often prioritise sensationalism over accuracy, making it difficult to distinguish between credible sources and deceptive narratives. In this chaotic environment, the quest for truth becomes more elusive, as certainty gives way to doubt and confusion, leaving us questioning what’s real.”

Out now, the new single sets the tone for Out Of A Dream, showcasing The Slow Readers Club’s continued evolution while staying true to the sound that has earned them a dedicated following.
