The Holy Knives are back with their latest single, ‘Damned,’ a haunting track that explores the theme of escapism, produced by Jamie Hince of The Kills.

‘Damned’ marks a significant step in the evolution of the band, blending a modern production style with classic, cinematic elements. On the track, the Valentine brothers, Kody and Kyle, craft a sound that feels nostalgic yet polished, rooted in rock but bolstered by influences ranging from desert psychedelia to 90s trip-hop. The result is a sweeping, atmospheric track that carries the weight of self-doubt and the desire to escape.

“Simply put, ‘Damned’ is a song about escapism. Overthinking, self-doubt, wondering about your future–all of that can be put on hold when you go outside yourself. Getting drunk, going to shows, watching great movies, watching shitty movies, being with friends, being in love, playing games, making art–whatever it is that takes you beyond your anxieties and allows you to be free is heavenly. It allows you to stop wondering if you’re damned or blessed and you can just be.”

‘Damned’ is out now.
