Heiko Maile and Julian Demarre, pop musicians turned film composers, release new single ‘Melancholia’

Out now, ‘Melancholia,’ is the lead single from their upcoming album NEOSTALGIA, a collaboration between Heiko Maile (of Camouflage) and Julian Demarre.
After working together on several indie film scores, Heiko Maile & Julian Demarre have created their first collaborative electronic album. The lead single, ‘Melancholia,’ serves as the soul of the album, embodying the essence of longing for the past and future. Created as a fusion of percussive rhythm drops and alien sounds, the song came together using a KORG PE-1000 from 1976, evoking the spirit of Krautrock and Jaki Liebezeit.
Heiko discusses the track:
“Using instruments and recording techniques in a way that felt different is what sets this one apart from all our other projects. Without ‘Melancholia,’ the album wouldn’t have come into existence.”
‘Melancholia’ is out now. NEOSTALGIA will be available on vinyl and CD in stores starting September 6, 2024.
